Welcome to Foothills Lions Rugby Club |
The Foothills Lions Rugby’ was first established as the ‘Okotoks Rampant Lions’ in the 70’s
and continued as Men’s Division three team until the 1990’s. In their best season the Lions
placed the division three City Championship. In 2003, the Foothills Lions Rugby Club established
a U. 16 and later U.14 and U.18 teams. The club has won Four Provincial titles, 2008, 2009
U. 14 titles, 2007 U.16 title and 2008 U.18 Provincial title. In addition we have had numerous
provincial players and two National Players.Today, the Lions continue to grow adding Girls U.15 2009 and in 2010 men’s rugby is back in Okotoks. Furthermore, Alberta is experiencing tremendous growth in the game of rugby and the Foothills Lions is in the forefront of this growth. In 2010 the U.16’s are going to the Cook Islands to play four local Teams on Rarotonga from March 27 to April 10th. Good Luck. The Season will start April 19th (weather permitting).
